Overview
The region nestled between Pisac and Ollantaytambo is recognized as the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Throughout this excursion, we’ll traverse the mountainous landscapes that have held pivotal significance in Inca culture and history. Boasting a milder climate and lower altitude compared to Cusco, the Valley unfolds with a series of charming villages, ancient Inca terraces, and paramount archaeological sites to behold.
Itinerary
Your exploration of the Sacred Valley begins at 8:30 am, commencing with your hotel pick-up. Embarking on our private transport, we make our way to the enchanting Sacred Valley of the Incas. In Pisaq, you'll marvel at the valley's wonders. Similar to Machu Picchu, Pisaq's archaeological center seamlessly integrates with nature, boasting colonial streets and dramatic hills that create a captivating landscape. Adding to its allure is the vibrant handicraft market.
Continuing our journey, you'll be treated to panoramic views of majestic mountains and snow-capped peaks. Upon reaching the village of Ollantaytambo, we explore the archaeological complex, featuring constructions as ancient as the colossal stones it comprises. This complex showcases an array of houses, temples, platforms, colcas, and enigmatic enclosures with undetermined purposes. Ollantaytambo's village is considered the last bastion of the Andean style, evident in its houses and narrow streets.
Post-visit, we'll transport you to the train station, where you'll board the train to Aguas Calientes for an overnight stay, concluding a day brimming with cultural and historical marvels.
To witness the awe-inspiring sunrise above the Machu Picchu sanctuary, we opt for the earliest bus, departing around 5:30 am. Upon arrival, indulge in a first-class guided tour, unfolding the mysteries of the site and delving into the life and culture of its inhabitants. Lasting approximately 2 and a half hours, this comprehensive tour provides ample insights for you to explore Machu Picchu and its surroundings at your own pace. Post the guided tour, our guide will advise on the ideal time to return for your train to Cusco, ensuring a seamless journey.
For photography enthusiasts seeking the best shots of the site, we present the option to ascend Huayna Picchu. The round trip takes approximately 2 hours. If you wish to undertake this adventure, kindly inform us during the booking process, as spaces are limited, and tickets must be secured in advance.
